1st October 2019 - A new academic year invariably means new staff members, new roles, new tasks and lots of things that need to be done right now to support your members as they settle into the new academic year. This post looks at development work we've done to help simplify the process of assigning permissions and get your team working as quickly as possible.
1st October 2019 - A new academic year invariably means you have new team members who are raring to go and make their mark on your organisation. Add in your new student group committees keen to start work on events and activities for their members and you’re looking at some admin work to get all the right permissions set up for all the right people.
So we’ve spent some time simplifying MSL’s permissions management system to help you get your team members set up and working as quickly as possible:
- The list of permissions for a Person and Groups in the Admin Web has been simplified to get you to straight to where you need to be
- Sorting, page numbering and filtering are now available to help you easily navigate and narrow down results when there are a lot of inherited permissions
- Effective Permissions columns are now ordered for a more logical flow and the Target Group and Source both now link to the group permissions URL
- The Source of permissions is clearly displayed indicating whether inherited, assigned or (for people) from a membership of another group, ensuring a quick and accurate reference.
These improvements will benefit all users of the admin web as well as Elections and Jobs areas on your main website, providing a more consistent experience.
